November Fun

November is one of my favorite months. In Colorado the weather turns cool enough for coats and fires in the evening, but the afternoons are mostly sweat shirt weather, not windy or cold. It’s a great month to get in some last hikes and outside activities before the true winter cold hits.

I also like that November is a month of gratitude. This month I plan on sharing a lot of ideas for incorporating thankfulness and gratitude into daily life.

November is a month that I find to be very creative. This time of year I always want to start cooking elaborate dinners, making fancy cookies, paint ornaments, and even knit scarves. Not that I manage to do all that, but I always want to.

It’s a month for planning ahead for family dinners and Christmas surprises. Already at the stores there are lights, trees, and ornaments. I love seeing all the specialty foods out the candied cherries, the decorator sugars, chocolate coated nuts and cookies, and gingerbread house kits.

Today our family went to a craft and food fair. We mainly went because the Santa Fe people that make our favorite hot sauces were going to be there. We bought an entire case! The woman at the booth shared all kinds of recipe ideas with us. She even likes hot sauce on cheesecake and ice cream! I think we will stick with the idea of putting it on burgers and baked potatoes for now.

We enjoyed sampling hot chocolates, coffees, macadamia nut toffee, soups, dips, and hot sauces. I bought a couple of ornaments for Christmas gifts, and we even found snow! Not real snow, but a polymer that you add water to, it instantly changes into a snowy powder that is fluffy and even feels cold. What fun it would be to have “snow” on Christmas gifts, particularly in those areas that don’t get snow at Christmas.

Find instant snow here.
