Pop Culture Potpourri: Rosie’s Return and the “Dancing” Tour

ROSIE’S RETURN

There’s no keeping her away. Rosie O’Donnell is ready for primetime. But are you ready for Rosie on primetime?

While nothing has been set in stone, new reports confirm that the former daytime talk show host turned “View” basher is hooking up with cable news channel MSNBC to host her own show.

According to The New York Times, O’Donnell is currently in discussions with MSNBC, but no deal has been inked. The paper says various scenarios are being considered including giving O’Donnell a primetime slot that would pit her show against Hannity & Colmes on FOX News Channel and CNN’s Larry King Live.

Elizabeth Hasselbeck’s nemesis recently posted a blog that said she could soon be competing with “the guy with the suspenders and the long, long face.” (A reference to King.)

According to the paper, MSNBC’s parent company, NBC has been actively pursuing O’Donnell for a number of projects since she ditched the ladies at “The View” earlier this year.

THE “DANCING” TOUR

Fans of ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars” who were devastated when Sabrina Bryan and pro partner Mark Ballas got the unexpected boot from last week’s show don’t despair. You will soon be able to watch the dating twosome waltzing on a dance floor in person in a city near you.

Just as in years past, a rotating cast of celebs and their nimble dance partners will be hitting the road on a 37-city tour. First stop: Seattle on December 18th.

Producers have just released the show’s line up, which includes season five’s Cheryl Burke, Marie Osmond and Bryan. Also, look for season two champ Drew Lachey to hit the dance floor in select cities, along with season three favorite Joey Lawrence, among others. And as an added bonus, producers announced that Wayne Newton, who was paired with Burke this season, will be singing during select city stops.
