Dinner Discussions 2007 Week 41

This week’s dinner discussions are based on lesson 41in the manual for Senior Primary and older. The Junior Primary lessons are based on lesson 40. You may need to adjust your schedule according to your ward’s individual schedule. The sharing time theme for the month is gratitude. You may want to choose a song or scripture to memorize as a family this month as well.

If you have a child in Nursery or Sunbeams he learned about the Sacrament. The children learned the story of the Last Supper and of when Jesus visited the Nephites. The children learned about being reverent during the Sacrament. You may want to focus on this as a family as well.

If you have a child between the ages of four and seven she learned about worshipping at church. The children learned that they worship at church by praying, singing, listening and partaking of the Sacrament. The children learned the story of Spencer W. Kimball and the time he realized he needed to read the Bible. You may want to emphasize that being reverent is more than just sitting quietly.

If you have a child between the ages of eight and eleven he learned about watching what he says. The lesson comes primarily out of James in the New Testament. The lesson talked about vulgar language and having bad thoughts. It also talked about the importance of speaking kindly of others. The reading assignment is James 3:3-10.

If you have a child who is twelve or thirteen she learned about President Ezra Taft Benson and his loyalty. The lesson focused on experiences when President Benson was loyal and when he met saints who were loyal. It also briefly talked about the Scouting program. Additionally the class discussed the twelfth Article of Faith and why it is important to live its teachings.

For all members over the age of fourteen the lesson was on 1st and 2nd Timothy and Titus. The lesson focused on learning the true doctrine of the church and being an example to those around us. The lesson also focused on living righteously. Next week’s reading assignment is James.

The young women learned about optimism. The young men learned about the Sacrament. The Priesthood and Relief Society lessons were determined by each individual presidency. Next week’s lesson is “The Prophet Joseph Smith” number 21 in the manual.
