Stocking Stuffer Picks from the Dollar Store

As I mentioned previously in my dollar store strategy series: Getting More from the Dollar Store (1) and Getting More from the Dollar Store (2), dollar and discount stores are great places to pick up lots of stocking stuffers for the holiday season.

And don’t limit these little gifts to just a stocking. Fill a pretty basket, a decorated shoe box or any container that works for you. There are so many ideas out there. You can fill a stocking with a theme of gifts, or just include a selection of surprises. It is so much fun to be able to choose.

To get you started, here are a few selections you can easily find at the dollar store to use as stocking stuffers.

Books. I’ve found lots of nice classics that would be perfect for someone who loves literature. I’ve also seen collections of romance and mystery novels.

Coloring books and activity books. If stuffing in a stocking, you can gently curl the coloring book. And don’t forget to include items from our next set…

Crayons and designer pens and pencils. Kids can always use crayons, and I know one or two adults who might appreciate them as well.

Designer candy and gourmet treats. There are plenty of packaged candy and treats that look great in a Christmas stocking.

Bath and body items. Small and large bottles of lotions, potions, shampoo, make up applicators, perfume, powder and more are all available at the dollar store. These make nice gifts that are both practical and luxurious at the same time.

Small toys. one of my favorite type of toys at the dollar store for Christmas stockings are bags of plastic figures. There are the usual army men, of course, but you’ll also find plenty of farm animals, jungle animals (some from the Animal Planet brand), dinosaurs and more.

Dolls. There are plenty of dolls and accessories for girls at the dollar store.

Hair items. From ribbons and scrunchies to pretty clips and pony tail holders, you can get a lot of items for hair here. Don’t forget a cute comb and brush set, too.

What are your favorite items at the dollar store?
