I know what you are thinking…”But Libby, there is a writer’s strike.” But, there is still some television news out there.
A couple of new shows have been announced. The Wayan Brothers, famous for their Fox show “In Living Color” and movies such as Scary Movie and White Chicks, just finished a comedy pilot for VH1. The show, titled “The Life and times of Marcus “Felony” Brown,” will be about an on the rise rapper, played by Darius McCrary. He moves to LA with his entourage, hype mand E-Z, manager Cash, and bodyguard Tiny.
The pilot was just filmed in Los Angeles. I cannot find a time when it will air, but since this is the Wayans Brothers, I am sure this show will be hilarious!
With the writer’s strike talks ending again, it looks like we will be stuck with reality shows for the upcoming year. I say that as if it were a bad thing – I love reality shows. Anyhow, ABC had ordered a reality plot for the makers of “Deal or No Deal” and “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition,” Endernol USA.
I can’t find a name for the new show, but sources say it will be like “Fear Factor” with none of the grossness (good!). It will feature 50 contestants going through the largest obstacle course in the world hoping to win the $50,000 prize.
And finally, if you never got over Genie Francis leaving the soap “General Hospital” in 1982 (I know I never did!), she is now apologizing. Genie, who played tormented but in love Laura Vining Webber Baldwin Spencer Spencer, said to fans “I’m sorry for leaving you so abruptly, for not taking into account the feelings of the people who helped Laura truly take on a life of her own.” She went on to say, “It was the decision of a young, impetuous girl, and the woman she has become asks for your forgiveness.” Genie began playing the role of Laura when she was only 14 and quit when she was 20, although she did make brief appearances several times over the years.
