What are the hottest looks that will be decorating trees this season? Here are some of the most popular ideas that we have been spotting around the country.
Wide Ribbon
One trend that is new but at the same time timeless is using wide ribbon (usually in a shimmery gold or silver) to decorate the tree in place of tinsel. Not only does this give an elegant look, but the ribbon is much more kid- and baby-friendly than that tinsel. Color coordinate the rest of the tree with the overall look in your room.
Black and White
From a really dramatic tree try out the classically modern black and white tree. This is probably the hottest trend going on in the celebrity world. Start with a pre-flocked tree (A tree that looks as if it is covered in snow). Add ornaments in white, black and gunmetal gray. Black pine cones, white snowflakes and more, will act as cool decorations. To tie the look together, wrap presents under the tree in black and white.
Black Tree
And if the black and white tree doesn’t offer enough drama, take the trend to the next step with the black tree. Black might normally be a hard color to swallow during the holidays, but this look can be beautiful as well as trendy. the secret is to pick ornaments that give a high contrast to the tree, such as silver or a bright robin’s egg blue.
Retro Trees
One trend for Christmas trees is the retro look. Think of those shiny tinsel trees made of silver, but take it in a new direction, such as red to be really trendy. Once the height of fashion in years gone by, the tinsel tree is coming back in style. Pick white as a contrast color and add a candy cane skirt for whimsey.
