You have found your ancestors’ names, verified that the information is correct, and checked to see if their temple ordinance work has been done. You find that it hasn’t, and so, now, what is your next step? You will submit those names to the temple so that the saving ordinances can be completed for your dead, using TempleReady.
TempleReady is a FamilySearch computer program specifically designed to help you submit your names. You use this program to organize your information and then send it to the temple. You can find this program available in many stakes, and your ward or stake family history consultant can tell you where you can access it. You may have a computer with this software in your own church building. If you do not have access to this program, you can send your information on disk to:

If you live overseas, you may send the disk to the nearest temple and they will take care of it for you.
Now, as far as using the software itself, you will type in the names of the ancestors that need their work done. The software will check to see if there is enough information to allow the ordinance to be performed. It will also cross-reference with the International Genealogical Index to see if that person has already had their work performed, which is a great way to double-check your research in this key area.
As you fill out the electronic forms, you will be asked to specify if you will be bringing people in to do the work, or if you would like the temple to do it without you. One of the greatest pleasures of doing genealogy work is then to perform the temple ordinances, so I hope you have this chance at least a few times in your life.
If you will be doing the work yourself, it’s best to submit just those names that you will be able to do within the next two months, and then submit for the next two months after that. The names will be kept on file for your retrieval at the temple, and it’s best to not clog up their system with names that you won’t do for a while. If you decide to have the temple provide the proxies, they will go directly into the file of names waiting to have their work done.
Once you have given all the pertinent information, you will save it to a disk, which you will then take or send to the temple. They will prepare the names to be done. After the disk is saved, the software will print out a report of what is on the disk, to better help you track what work is to be done.
The Church has provided many tools to help make your genealogy experience as pleasant and easy as possible. I do hope you’ll take advantage of them and find ways to bless your kindred dead.
