What Are Your Weight Loss Goals for 2008?

We’re halfway through December and it is New Year’s Resolution time once again. Rather than resolving to be someone you aren’t, why not think about setting some achievable goals for the new year? Instead of giving up everything that you love, vowing to live a life nobody could and expecting feats of magic from yourself – and thereby setting yourself up for failure, set yourself up for success in 2008.

Think about it…

We all want to lose weight but we should know by now that weight that comes off in a hurry often comes back just as quickly. Losing 2-3 pounds every week is a very reasonable and achievable goal. Weight lost slowly this way is much easier to keep off in the long run. With 52 weeks in the year, one could very easily lose 104 to 156 pounds in a year’s time and keep it off.

Joining a gym may sound like an admirable goal, but will you make time to get to the gym? Why not see if you can commit to exercising at home before spending money on a gym membership? Not only can you get a great aerobic workout in the comfort and privacy of your own home but you can also start weight training with some starter weights that nearly everyone has in their home like canned goods, water bottles and milk jugs.

The sad thing about most New Year’s Resolutions is that people set outrageous expectations for themselves and are then disappointed in themselves when they reach the end of the year without reaching their goals.

Don’t vow to be someone else in the new year. That’s just setting ridiculous goals for yourself and setting yourself up for failure. Try something different and set yourself up for success this year!
