I live in Packer Country—-home of pro football’s Green Bay Packers and probably the only place in the world where residents were watching yesterday’s Dallas vs. Philadelphia game as intensely as Cowboy and Eagle fans.
The Packers have an unbelievable 12-2 record and fans here are hoping the road to the Super Bowl goes through Lambeau Field. Dallas, whose record is as stellar as Green Bay’s, cracked yesterday and lost to the Eagles. Which means the Packers could secure home field advantage during the playoffs and Dallas could be headed to the Frozen Tundra for a game that could break attendance records.
But the bigger question that has emerged from this rare Dallas loss is: Will Jessica Simpson be flying to Green Bay if Dallas and the Packers square off in a playoff game?
After yesterday’s game most (if not all) Cowboy fans are hoping the answer is NO.
The same Tony Romo, who yesterday threw three interceptions, fumbled the ball twice, and watched his heavily favored Cowboys lose to the Philadelphia Eagles 10-6… all while his new girlfriend, her dad and his parents looked on from a luxury skybox.
She may have been the best looking cheerleader in the stadium, but her perfectly coiffed hair, fresh manicure and snug fitting Tony Romo jersey emblazoned with a pink number 9 didn’t help her new beau win the game.
In fact, at one point the TV network airing the game to a nationwide audience showed a montage of the former “Newlywed” spliced with shots of Romo’s bad throws. As commentator Joe Buck noted, “It’s never easy to play in front of your girlfriend.”
That might be the understatement of the year.
When all was said and done, football commentators called Romo’s performance “the worst in his entire career.”
Oh, but, it gets worse. This morning Dallas newspapers didn’t neglect to mention that Romo’s previous low occurred last December, when then-girlfriend Carrie Underwood was in the stands.
So, what is it with Romo, blonde-haired singing beauties and his inability to score on the field?
According to local newspapers, outspoken Dallas fans don’t care how the Pro-Bowler is getting his game on off the field. The Dallas Morning News printed a story today that said Romo was heckled outside the arena last night by a female fan who shouted, “Worry about the game, not your girlfriend!”
Do you think this game could spell the end of Jessitony?
