Holly Jolly Celebrity Gifts—-Spice Girl Style

What did you get from your spouse this Christmas?

Soccer star David Beckham gave his Spice Girl wife a gift I found very interesting. Not because it was priced at $1,500, but because it was made of paper and not precious gems.

Victoria Beckham’s hot hubby dropped more than a grand to get a fashion book for his famous wife. The expensive (to me anyway—I’m sure $1,500 is stocking stuffer range for the Beckham’s) Christmas present, Valentino Garavani: First Name in Fashion is one of just 2,000 copies made available worldwide. Victoria’s was personally signed by the legendary designer, covered in elegant silk, and placed in a clamshell gift box.

According to the British newspaper The Sun, “David wanted to get Victoria everything she wanted for Christmas and this is one of the items she requested.”

The slinky Spice Girl didn’t have to wait until Christmas morning to open her limited edition gift. According to The Sun, the Beckham’s exchanged gifts at their Los Angeles home earlier this month so they could spend the actual holidays with family in their native England.

Meanwhile Spice Girl Melanie Brown recently got into the Christmas spirit by donating $20,000 to various children’s hospitals in the United States—-BUT, rumor has it her generosity wasn’t exactly forthcoming.

The “Dancing with the Stars” runner up took part in a Christmas sing-a-long at London department store last week to raise money for the Make-A-Wish foundation, an organization that grants the wishes of terminally ill children.

According to the British newspaper the News of the World, Brown was paid $20,000 to sing festive hits such as Santa Claus Is Coming To Town, sign autographs, and mingle with the crowd.

However, many at the event felt Brown should have waived her five figure fee and give the money to the needy children. According to news reports, after catching wind of the harsh criticism Brown agreed to donate her $20,000 personal appearance fee to help children’s hospitals in the United States.
