Nicole Kidman IS Pregnant

Her publicist, Catherine Olim, has finally confirmed it – Nicole Kidman is pregnant! Of course, the brief statement included that “the couple are thrilled.”

Rumors were circulating that she was indeed pregnant (but haven’t they been since before she and Keith Urban even married?) when it was reported that she dropped out of the World War II drama The Reader earlier this month. Nicole’s camp kept denying that she was pregnant and a representative for the production company even refused to say she had quit the Stephen Daldry drama. When specifically asked last week by a Daily Telegraph reporter if she was pregnant, Nicole refused to answer.

Nicole is the mother of two adopted children – Connor, age 12, and Isabella, age 14 – with former husband Tom Cruise. Reportedly, she was pregnant with Cruise’s biological child but suffered a miscarriage shortly after he filed for divorce. She confirmed that she was engaged after divorcing Cruise, but before marrying Urban, but would never give a name (Lenny Kravitz, anyone?). She wed fellow Australian Keith Urban on June 25, 2006, but not all was rosy as Urban checked himself into the Betty Ford Clinic less than four months later. Seemingly recovered, the couple looks happy together today.

But, of course, this is Hollywood and there is a small damper on Nicole’s joyous day. Andrew Morton is set to release an unauthorized biography on Tom Cruise that states that he was encouraged to end his marriage to Nicole by Scientology bigwigs. The book states that Nicole, who never embraced her former husband’s “religion,” angered Scientology authorities when she gave a 1998 Newsweek interview in which she described herself as a “Catholic girl.” Morton alleges that Nicole was threatened by Scientologists that she would not see her children or act again if she spoke out against the church.

Cruise’s lawyers have called the book “outrageous, sick stuff.”
