Check Your Junk E-mail Periodically

I am sure that this is a “basic” lesson for the home business owner, but periodically, I find that important e-mails have found their way into my junk-email folder or my junk suspects folder in my e-mail inbox. A couple days might go by and I forget to peek in there and see if there is anyone or anything I really need to know about and inevitably I find someone important!

I know that there are ways to make sure that people do NOT end up in the junk suspects or junk mail folder, but I do not always remember to add every single person to my “safe” list. Not to mention, if you are in a business where you will periodically be getting e-mails from prospects and completely new people, there is a decent chance those might be sent to junk if you’ve got a powerful spam-blocker. While I get a bit frustrated that legitimate e-mails end up in my junk mail, I also don’t want all that spam finding its way into my in-box, so I just have to try to remember to do a sweep of my junk mail every day or two to make sure nothing has slipped in there.

Once I’ve retrieved it, I can then add the sender to my safe list or my addresses so that they won’t likely go in there again. I have to admit however, that I have found that I might get a dozen e-mails from someone just fine and then they will forward me something or for some unknown reason, an e-mail will end up flagged and I won’t get it. Sure enough, I’ll find an e-mail from a known sender buried in my suspected spam. The only solution I have come up with is to remind myself to check in there and keep my eye open for anything that looks “important.” (Then I have to make apologies to those who sent them that I didn’t get back to them sooner!)
