Forget the candy and perfume. This year, for Valentine’s Day, why not ask for or give a gift that you can enjoy in your home. Chances are the gift will last longer than a card or chocolates, and will be remembered for years to come. Here are some of my favorite ideas.
A down comforter: You’ll be able to snuggle and sleep in with your honey when you are warm under a fluffy down comforter. Look for new features in comforters, such as EcoDown, which is hyper allergenic, and different levels of warmth. you can check out this article for a guide to choosing a comforter.
A soft throw: If a bed comforter is a little too intimate for this Valentine’s Day, chose the next best thing, a comfy throw. You can snuggle on the couch with a snack and a movie. Choose a rich shade of red for romance and to get your point across.
Candles and candle holders: These are always romantic and a Valentine’s Day gift that can’t go wrong. Soft candlelight and sweet scents will put everyone in the right mood to celebrate. The instantly transform the atmosphere.
Flowers: Yes, floral arrangements are traditional, but they are still a gift for your home. Purchase a few for yourself, since you deserve it. Or when planning this gift for someone else, keep in mind the home’s color scheme, mood and decor for the perfect fit. For someone who may not be in to flowers, consider a dramatic plant, such as a large potted plant, and indoor tree, or even a hot house tomato plant with its luscious, red fruit.
Lamp: a nice lamp can make a wonderful Valentine’s gift. With a soft, low-wattage bulb, it can enhance the feeling of the room and make it ready for romance. Tiffany lamps and bedside lamps with rich red or pink shades are romantic choices for a Valentine’s Day.
