Easy Super Bowl Snacks Kids Can Make

We actually don’t watch a lot of football at my house. But the Super Bowl is fun, even though some of us are more interested in the commercials than the game. And of course there are the snacks, too!

Here are some snacks kids love and that they can help make.

Brown Sugar Dip (that tastes like caramel)

1-8 ounce package softened cream cheese
1 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla

Mix the package of cream cheese with the brown sugar and vanilla. It really does taste like caramel. We like it with apples. It’s also really good on pretzels.

Old-fashioned Chex Mix

I’ve been making Chex Mix since I was nine or ten. So no matter that the box says Traditional Recipe, I know the recipe has changed. I follow the recipe on the box except I cook the nuts in the melted butter and seasonings for a few minutes. This makes the nuts extra yummy. Sometimes we add a little extra butter and seasonings because we know that we’ll get carried away with the pretzels and cheese crackers. And yes, we use cheese crackers. I’m quite sure the original recipe didn’t say bagel chips.

Chex Mix is a great recipe for kids because it’s hard to mess up. The fact that it cooks at a very low temperature makes it’s a great first oven recipe for older children. Younger ones can measure and help with stirring.

Ranch Dip

Mix 16 ounces of sour cream with a packet of powdered ranch salad dressing. It’s a great dip for raw veggies. My children love it. And of course it’s good on potato chips, too.

Munchie Tray

Children can arrange crackers, slices of cheese, black and green olives, cherry tomatoes, carrots, celery, and pickles on a tray.
