How Much Time Do I Spend Searching for My Readers?

I have not been one to go willingly into aging—particularly when it comes to my work world. It took me a good dozen years to figure out what I wanted to do with my life career-wise and now I am playing catch-up. Still, there are plenty of tiny little happenings that remind me that I am no longer part of the “young guard.” I have to consider an “age appropriate” hair style and I wear loafers and sensible shoes even when I am dressed up and networking. One reality of aging that I am certain is affecting my productivity and therefore my bottom line is my new wrestling relationship with the reading glasses…

I am relatively new to the readers and to be honest, I think it was my writing business and other work that sent my eyes into overdrive and forced the acquisition. I put it off as long as I could and finally I had to admit that my eyes and my work liked it better when I had them on. Now, I’m becoming dependent but am not yet organized enough to keep them either on my eyes or on my desk—instead I leave them everywhere—cupboards, file folders, the bathroom counter, in my work bag; today I even snapped them up all folded into my datebook and spent a better part of an hour searching and searching.

Productivity and efficiency are definitely being affected. I think the time has come to make the leap and purchase a few pairs. I’m not quite ready for the prescription as that will take a more mature and advanced mindset than I have reached, but having a few pairs scattered about might help me spend less time in searching. What I am wondering, however, is if I can consider the purchase of reading glass to be a business expense?
