If your kids want to help decorate their rooms, here is a fun way to let them get them involved. First, you’ll need to apply a fresh background coat of paint and let it dry. Next, remove furniture or cover it thoroughly with protective drop cloths. Tape off trim and anything you do not want painted, completely covering the area that is not to be painted (you can tape up some newspaper).
Choose a few fun colors that will coordinate with the new design plan. Purchase quarts or pints of paint in these colors. Thin the paint by mixing equal parts paint and water.
Okay, here comes the fun part. Fill squirt guns or spray bottles (or both) with the thinned out paints and let your children squirt the walls!
It may sound a little crazy, but it actually turns out cute. It creates a cool treatment like spattering paint with a brush, but it is much easier this way, and believe it or not, it’s less messy (as long as kids don’t go nuts. You definitely want to supervise, and you may want to join in the fun!).
To make filling the squirt guns easier, thin the paint in measuring cups that have pouring spouts. You may want to fill the squirt guns or spray bottles outside, and store them in a paint pan until you’re ready to start painting. This will help avoid drips.
Some parents may not be up for this, or may not want to do the entire room. That’s okay too. You can let the kids do one wall to create an awesome focal wall, or you can simply take a canvas or two outside and let the kids squirt it with paint to make some cool artwork.
Your kids will have a blast and grown ups and kids alike will love the look!
