It’s Easter and what activities do you have planned with your spouse today? You may plan to go to Church. You may be planning to go on an Easter egg hunt with your kids. You might be planning a quiet afternoon together. You may even be planning a special meal to share with family and friends.
One of my favorite Easter Treats is making Banana Pudding with Nilla Wafers. On Easter, you can get Nilla wafers in multiple colors. Those multiple colors can make it beautiful and a little more special as an Easter treat.
So what will you and your spouse do this Easter?
Consider the following:
Plant something beautiful together. Watch the plant or flower or tree bloom for the rest of the spring and summer will represent the blooming of your own love and romance.
Take your spouse and family out for an old-fashioned picnic. Pack sandwiches, fruit and drinks in a cooler or basket. Spread a blanket under the shade of a tree in a park and let the kids play as you talk and share the intimacy of an afternoon together.
Go out to see a movie and share a private meal. If you have kids, there are some great treats to be seen in Ice Age 2: The Meltdown (where family adopted and biological is emphasized) and The Wild (where friendship and fatherhood and the rites of passage come to life).
For Christian couples and families; attend services with your family at Church, discuss the lessons of the Easter resurrection and read passages from the Bible.
For couples and families of other religions, enjoy this rite of spring that is both religious and secular – but intensely familiar as it is a time to bring the family closer together. Make a meal together and share some favorite dishes. Barbecue a favorite meat or vegetable.
Take a photograph and center it on a piece of paper or in an album. Surround it with older photographs of your time together, framing it if you will and either hang it on the wall or put in a place of prominence.
Enjoy your Easter and have a great Sunday together!
