I hope that you and your family had a wonderful Easter. Now that Easter is behind us, it is time to take advantage of certain after Easter bargains and ideas for your frugal living lifestyle. Here is what you could be doing this week to contribute frugally to your household with Easter-related stuff.
Stock up on that bargain easter candy. Most of the candy can be frozen and then doled out during the rest of the year. You can also use Easter candy in baking. Pastel M&Ms that have been chopped or ground up make a really festive topping for cakes and cupcakes. That is just one example. Freeze all of those marshmallow Peeps. They freeze well and can be thawed to be good as new. If you want something different later, try dipping them in chocolate for a fun treat.
Stock up on eggs. With rising food prices, grab those cheap eggs while you can. I just picked up five dozen eggs that have a long shelf life. I’ll use them all up before their time here in my household, but did you know that you can freeze eggs? Click here to learn more.
Stock up on plastic Easter eggs and basket fillers. Pretty little pencils or erasers can be used down the road for class gifts, or you can store your Easter gleanings for next year. Also look for bargains on chalk, a typical Easter basket filler. Another bargain: cookie cutters, sprinkles, cake pans and other Easter baking items.
If you don’t plan on putting your daughter in her Easter bonnet again, use it as a pretty decoration on the wall or her room. Or turn it upside down and hang the bonnet as a way to catch small stuffed animals or other toys. This way, you won’t be wasting the purchase.
