Celebrities Practicing What They Preach… Or Not

Actor Leonardo DiCaprio could easily be the poster boy for the environment. The Oscar nominee has long been known as one of the most “green” guys on the planet. And now the environmentally conscious movie star is once again showing the world he practices what he preaches with the purchase of his new eco-friendly condominium.

DiCaprio just confirmed that he dropped a whole lot of green to buy an ultra-luxe “green” space in New York’s Riverhouse, an eco-friendly building overlooking the Hudson River. The 264-unit glass tower overlooks the river and a park, and boasts low emission paints, a 24-hour fresh filtered air system, a water treatment facility and rotating solar panels. The actor will also have access to the David Rockwell-designed high-rise’s other amenities including an indoor 50-foot lap pool, media cafe, fitness center, landscaped terrace, and five-star dog spa.

The 33-year-old “Blood Diamond” star’s building will also house the City Bakery and a branch of the New York Public Library when it opens this summer.

By the way, DiCaprio flexes his “green” muscle on the other side of the country as well. The actor had solar panels installed on his Los Angeles home and while in Tinseltown he drives a hybrid car.

Now let’s turn our attention to a celebrity who seems to struggle with practicing what she preaches.

Model turned fashion designer turned Djimon Hounsou’s girlfriend, Kimora Lee Simmons has decided to grace the world of budget conscious shoppers.

The ultra-glam creator of the ultra-expensive Baby Phat line (she once noted to reporters that her daughters wouldn’t be caught dead wearing anything less) has just teamed up with JCPenney to design an exclusive fashion sportswear line for teens called Fabulosity.

Simmons says the new line was inspired by her own glamorous lifestyle and embodies confidence, beauty and fashion sense all at an affordable price.

Fabulosity will be in JCPenney stores in July.

Rumor has it the unveiling of Simmons’ new collection will mark the first time she has stepped foot in the retial chain she once thought was a place that only sold loafers.
