Tips and Tricks for Quick Organization

Organizing our homes and our lives may seem like a never-ending battle, but I prefer to think of it as a work in progress. I learn new things all the time that help make life simpler, and of course, more organized. Here are some tips and tricks I’ve come across recently, as well as some tried and true methods that may simply serve as reminders:

Containers

Okay, so using containers is not some “light bulb moment” discovery when it comes to organization. However, which containers you choose and how they are used can have an impact. Caddies are great, and as noted previously, work well for cleaning supplies and other uses. You can have everything at your fingertips when you carry caddies from room to room as you clean.

Caddies also work great for crafts, art, sewing, knitting, or crocheting supplies, and they are convenient items for organizing your vehicle. Yep, you can stash coupons, mail that you picked up on your way out, notes, small items you need to deliver elsewhere, hand sanitizer, and more, so it’s all in one place. A hard plastic laundry basket works well in the backseat for corralling backpacks, extra jackets (I like to keep a jacket for each family member in the car in case of changing weather) and sports equipment. Instead of arm loads of things to drag in, grab your caddies or baskets (whichever needs the most attention at the moment) and bring it inside to sort through things.

Once sorted, you can refill the basket with cleaned out backpacks, lunches, and other items and set it near the door so you can load it back into the car in the morning.

Nice, sturdy laundry baskets can be used in numerous ways to help you organize, from sorting and moving items to simple storage. I recently picked up a set of three, medium sized square laundry baskets that stack. I see more of these handy items in my future, and my oldest will certainly become the proud owner of a set before she heads off to college.
