BYU Women’s Conference

BYU Women’s Conference is coming up soon. It is May fourth and fifth this year. For those of you who haven’t heard about Women’s Conference it is like a mini Education Week (only it is just for women) or like Time Out for Women on a larger scale. It is a conference where you can take classes related to all aspects of your life. There are classes on communication, on spirituality, emergency preparedness and a variety of other topics. You can learn more by visiting their site.

This year’s theme for Women’s Conference is “Rise to the Divinity Within You.” It is based on a talk that President Hinckley gave in the October 2002 General Conference. There is a lot offered each of the two days of Women’s Conference. Each morning starts with a general session at the Marriott Center and then you will have the opportunity to choose three classes to attend during the day. At the close of each day there is another general session in the Marriott Center. The featured speaker for the closing session is Elder Boyd K Packer.

If you are Spanish speaking or know someone that is there are headsets available for the general sessions. This year they are offering one class taught in Spanish each class period. To learn more about these classes please click here. If you are not able to make it out to Utah for the Women’s Conference, there are broadcasts of certain classes available at your local stake center on May 19 and 20. You should talk to your local leaders for the available times.

If you are able to make it, early registration has already completed, but you can still register online. The cost for the conference is $45.00 for both days or $25.00 for a single day. You can also register the day of the events, but it is not recommended due to the long lines. Young women over the age of sixteen are also invited to attend, so this would be a great chance to bring your Laurels to fun and spiritual experience.

One of the best things about Women’s Conference is the service that is completed during the conference. You can complete a variety of service projects throughout the day, and on Thursday evening. There will also be service rooms available in which you can work on a service project while viewing a broadcast of a current presentation. You may also visit the “Sharing Stations” to learn ideas for take home service projects.

No matter where you are you can take part in this wonderful conference. Whether you get to go in person or have the opportunity to watch a few sessions at your local church building, it is a chance for each of us to be uplifted.
