When we start thinking about marketing and promotions for our businesses, many of us get overwhelmed. It can seem like a huge world and we might feel completely unprepared for tackling “marketing.” One key thing to remember (and maybe the only thing you need to remember) is just to focus on constant and regular exposure of your business with your target market.
Once you are sure of the mission and message of your business and its marketing, it is time to share that message with everyone. That means getting it everywhere and making sure that you are constantly, regularly, and persistently sending the same simple, accessible message: Business name, what you do, and how to reach you. Doesn’t that sound simple? I know when you hear terms like “target market” and “branding” and “call to action” you may think there is a secret society of marketers who know things that you do not know. The fact is, however, that you just need to keep spreading your message with consistency—over and over again.
Now that I write about how simple it is, I see that it can get almost boring. After all, you are saying the same thing and getting the word out over and over to the same target market. That is okay, though, that is how you know that you are saturating your target market. Plus, you are constantly trying to court and cultivate new prospects too. Just remind yourself that when you are getting bored with your constant and regular marketing efforts, your target market is probably just starting to get it. You really do want them to have your business name and purpose on the tips of their tongue so they will find you when they need you. The only way to achieve that is to just keep getting the message out there—constantly and without letting up.
