In a previous blog I ranted about the growing number of celebrities who are cashing in by having their names and faces connected to random beauty products and fashion items.
For example, Patrick Dempsey has his own scent with Avon, while Spider-Man star James Franco recently paired with Gucci as the face of their new men’s fragrance. Now, it appears country music star Tim McGraw is jumping on the smell-good bandwagon too by teaming up with Coty to launch his first-ever fragrance this summer. According to company spokespeople, McGraw by Tim McGraw will be a “down-to-earth, woodsy scent with touches of aged whiskey.” (Apparently, it’s designed for the country boy in every man.) McGraw is slated to appear in a multi-million dollar ad campaign for the new fragrance beginning next month.
Then, we’ve got Kylie Minogue who is the new face of a high end Spanish jewelry collection. The Grammy award-winning singer just signed on as the new face of TOUS jewelry and accessories.
While we may never know if Dempsey or McGraw routinely douse themselves with the scents they are promoting, at least we will be able to see how committed Minogue is to her jewelry line. She claims that she has been a long time fan of the brand and to her credit she was photographed wearing the jeweler’s bespoke diamond drop earrings at last year’s premiere of her documentary White Diamond, so there is a very good possibility that her admiration for the company is authentic. The Australian beauty will star in TOUS’ worldwide advertising campaign starting this June.
Finally, his clothing line made him a celebrity and Hollywood stars wear many of his pieces, but that hasn’t stopped designer Tommy Hilfiger from reaching out to those less fortunate.
Hilfiger and a slew of other top designers just teamed up to produce a unique line of products that will benefit the fight against Multiple Sclerosis. The “Orange you Happy to Erase MS” campaign features orange-colored products, including t-shirts, lip gloss, jewelry, and socks. All proceeds will go to The Nancy Davis Foundation for Multiple Sclerosis to support MS education and research. You can check out the items by clicking here.
