Ah, Cher and Tina Turner…does it get any more classic that that? These two ladies could sing and entertain circles around most performers today. And, what careers they have had! If the Britney Spears and Lindsay Lohans of the world want to know how to thrive and survive in the show business world, they could definitely take a few cues from these ladies.
Both singers are now in their sixties (Cher is 61 and Tina is an amazing 68). Both have been taking it easy later – after all, after momentous careers, they both deserve it. But, this week, both are going to make an appearance on Oprah.
Cher plans to talk about, what else, her love life. She will talk about her relationship with Tom Cruise on an episode of “Oprah” that will air May 8. What? Cher and Tom Cruise? Well, as strange as it sounds, yes, the 70s diva and the Scientology nut dated back in the day. Of the relationship, Cher said he was a “shy boy” that “didn’t have any money.” Cher went on to say “He was so wonderful. And I was so crazy about him.” Aww.
She also talked about their relationship in February on “Entertainment Tonight” and said it was after Risky Business but before The Color of Money. If you are surprised Tom dated an older woman, don’t be. He and Business costar Rebecca De Mornay (3 years his senior) lived together for almost three years, then he married Mimi Rogers, who was six years his senior.
As for Ms. Turner, just when you thought she had turned in her microphone – she’s back. She too will appear on the May 8th episode of “Oprah” to announce her latest tour plans. It’s been eight long year since those long legs have appeared on a concert stage, but now Tina is ready to hit the road. Her tour will start October 1 in Kansas City, MO. The rest of the tour itinerary will be announced on May 12th.
