You Wouldn’t Grill Steak Without Dessert Would You?

Yesterday Michele convinced me to dust off our grill (which is stored in our closet during the winter months!) and get some steak for Memorial Day Weekend! I know that typically people pair a good potato salad and watermelon with grilling but have you considered grilling your dessert? If you’ve never tried it, you simply must! Here’s a couple of recipes that are easy, fun and will go perfectly with your grilled steak!

Banana S’mores

You will need:

bananas

miniature marshmallows

mini chocolate chips

Directions:

Peel the banana all the way down but not so far that it detaches from the banana. Slice the banana almost in half lengthwise. Stuff the banana with a mixture of chocolate chips and marshmallows. Cover the banana back up with the peel. Wrap the banana securely in aluminum foil. Grill for 5 to 10 minutes so as to melt the gooey marshmallows and chocolate. YUM!

Grilled Pound Cake with Strawberries

You will need:

Pound cake
Strawberries (or other berries of your choice)
Ice cream

Directions:

Heat the pound cake on a clean grill until there are visible grill lines. Top immediately with vanilla ice cream. Add sliced strawberries over all.

Grilled Angel Food Cake with Coconut Cream

You will need:

Prepared Angel food cake

1 package of coconut

1 box of vanilla or white chocolate flavored instant pudding

1 container of non-diary whipped topping

Directions:

Before you grill, make the pudding according to package directions. Add half of the coconut to the pudding mixture. When the pudding is set, fold in the whipped cream. Reserve the rest of the coconut for toasting.

Lay out a rather large square of foil. In the center, spread out coconut evenly. You will need to cover all of the coconut so make sure to leave plenty of room for folding foil over. Fold the foil over the coconut, making a sort of flat “pouch”. Toast the coconut on the grill for about 5 minutes, using tongs to flip over half way through.

While you’re toasting the coconut, you can also toast the angel food cake. Toast it until the sides show visible grill marks.
