Celebrity Updates: Ledger, Chapman, and Aiken

HEATH LEDGER

Still no word on the claims made by uncles of the late Heath Ledger as to whether the movie star fathered a love child. And we probably will never know how much Ledger’s daughter Matilda gained financially when her young father’s will was honored. But what we do know now is what some Aussie’s are doing to keep Ledger’s legacy alive.

Australians in Film just announced that it has established a scholarship in the late actor’s name to help wannabe Australian movie stars follow in their idol’s footsteps. According to organizers, the scholarship fund will be presented each year to a young up-and-coming performer with aspirations of Hollywood stardom.

As you recall, Ledger died in January at the age of 28 after accidentally overdosing on prescription drugs in New York.

STEVEN CURTIS CHAPMAN

In a previous blog I told you about the gut wrenching blow contemporary Christian singer Steven Curtis Chapman and his family were hit with a couple of weeks ago.

On May 21st Chapman’s 5-year-old daughter Maria Sue Chapman was accidentally run over by an SUV driven by her teenage brother.

According to reports, since her tragic death more than $275,000 has been donated to a nonprofit organization in honor of Maria.

Prior to his daughter’s funeral and memorial service Chapman asked that instead of flowers, mourners would donate money in memory of Maria to Shaohannah’s Hope-—a nonprofit organization created by the Chapman’s to provide adoption assistance, awareness and orphan care.

The Chapman’s three youngest children, including Maria were adopted from China.

CLAY AIKEN

Devoted “Claymates” are coming out in full force to support Clay Aiken and his unborn child.

In the days since news broke that the 29-year-old singer is about to experience what it’s like to be a father for the first time (Aiken reportedly donated his sperm to BFF music producer Jaymes Foster), the Internet has been buzzing with well wishes for their favorite “American Idol” runner-up.

“OMG Clay Aiken is my Hero,” wrote one fan on claymaniac.com. “I love him and wish him the best of luck!”

Another message posted on the same site reads: “Now today I almost choked on my sandwich, Clay is going to be a father? And in three months? It blew me over. All I can say is ‘Congratulations!’ That is going to be one handsome and talented baby.”

Only time will tell.
