Cruise Europe on a Dime

Okay, it might not be that cheap, but the following deals do reflect savings of up to 65% off regular rates. (Avid as well as first time cruisers can appreciate that.) As far as the destination goes, it’s true, the dollar isn’t at optimal levels in Europe, but at least you are saving money getting there. Another bonus: Instead of fussing with having to pay separately for your room, meals and transportation these cruises allow you to pay one flat fee.

CARNIVAL

CruisesOnly is currently offering an outstanding deal on an early-bird fall voyage to the Mediterranean. The 12-night odyssey aboard Carnival Freedom includes a 65% discount. Which means for October 24, 2008 departures you pay just $1,049 for an inside cabin, versus a rack rate price of $2,999. Even oceanview cabins are affordable at $1,369. The ship departs and returns to Civitavecchia/Rome, and makes stops in Naples, Venice and Livorno in Italy; Dubrovnik in Croatia; Messina on Sicily; Barcelona in Spain; as well as Monaco’s Monte Carlo. Also included are three entire days at sea.

MSC CRUISES

Orbitz is also offering phenomenal savings on early fall sailings. The discount travel site is currently running a deal that includes a ten-night voyage around Northern Europe aboard MSC Cruises’ Armonia. The price for the voyage has been reduced by a hefty 50%, with inside cabins selling for just $1,249, oceanview staterooms going for $1,499, and suites available for only $2,099. The only drawback–this particular price is valid for one departure only, on September 5, 2008. For the lucky cruisers who get in on the deal you will be treated to a roundtrip itinerary from London and enjoy visits to Holland, Germany, Sweden, Finland, Russia, and Denmark. Three full days at sea are also included.

NORWEGIAN

Vacation Outlet is also offering incredible bargains on European cruises. This one in particular is a steal. It allows you to see the best of Western Europe on a 13-night voyage. You’ll take in five European countries — England, Spain, Portugal, Italy and France — and stunning ports of call such as Lisbon, Sardinia, and Gibraltar. Norwegian Jade will sweep you away on a high seas adventure from England’s Southampton toward Barcelona at a price that’s been slashed in half. Inside units on this journey are on sale for $999; oceanview staterooms go for $1,199 and balconied units are selling for $1,599. That’s quite a discount considering that brochure rates start at $2,099 for an inside cabin. Warning: To qualify for the bargain rates you must depart on August 23, 2008.
