Firefox Download May Have Set a New World Record

firefox What is your favorite browser? For many it is Firefox by Mozilla, a browser that I personally like. Apparently, many other users feel the same way that I do. Firefox fans are busy downloading the new Firefox 3 at a rate of 9,000 copies per minute!

Firefox has many loyal fans who collectively attempted to set a world record for the most software downloads in a 24-hour period. The category is a new one for the Guinness Book of World Records, and it has to be verified, a process that could take up to a week. But for users, it is clear who the winner is.
Mozilla had been working on the development of Firefox 3 for almost three years. Some users got a taste for the new browser through beta testing that has been going on since last November. One thing that works well for Firefox is that it is never released full of bugs. Mozilla takes its time to perfect the browser as much as it can.

There is plenty to love in the new Firefox 3. There are enhancements to help users organize their websites, as well as block access to those websites that are known for spreading viruses and other malicious software.

Another interesting feature is the ability to click on a mail to link and send mail through Yahoo’s mail service. Previously, no browser could perform such a task. Instead the mail link would open a standard desktop e-mail program.

Other enhancements include faster rendering and greatly improved use of system resources.
Cnet.com calls Firefox “a worthy upgrade” and is their Editor’s Choice for best browser. Unfortunately, you will need an updated operating system. It will no longer support Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows Me or Max OS 10.2 or earlier.
