This is a follow up to a blog I recently wrote bemoaning the fact that finding affordable airfare to Hawaii is next to impossible these days. A few days ago I received an email informing me of an outstanding package deal to Maui that is being offered for a limited time during Hawaii’s low season.
The offer is good from August 18-December 8, 2008, but you must book a spot by July 13, 2008.
For $645 per person you can fly round-trip from L.A., San Francisco or Seattle ($1,119 per person from Chicago) to Maui on United Airlines and stay at the Lahaina Shores Beach Resort for five nights (three nights if you are flying from Seattle or Chicago). The deal has you flying directly to Kahului Airport on Maui and includes a transfer to your hotel, about 25 miles away.
Lahaina Shores Beach Resort is a 200-room property set on the outskirts of Lahaina, Maui’s main town on the western side of the island. The resort’s rooms offer more than 540 square feet of living space, with a full bathroom, central air-conditioning, a queen bed or two twins, a kitchen, and a view of the picturesque West Maui Mountains. The hotel also offers a swimming pool, beach access and prime viewing of migrating whales during the high season, which runs from November through April.
I would suggest taking advantage of this particular travel deal during the month of September. Doing so will allow you to be on Maui during the Taste of Lahaina & Best of Island Music Festival. The annual event attracts tens of thousands to the area each September and features live music and outstanding regional cuisine prepared by the best local chefs on the island.
The package deal is being offered by Pleasant Holidays and saves you more than $300 than if you were to book your flight and hotel separately. Extra nights start at $113 per person per night. Or you can upgrade to an oceanfront room for $226 per person.
