It’s a Gas—More Hotels Helping You Save Money This Summer

Who knew it would come to this? That hotels would actually be paying you to visit them? With the slew of gas saving travel packages being offered by lodgings from coast to coast, that’s pretty much what is happening–hotels, motels, inns and B&Bs across the country don’t want you to put the brakes on your summer road trip so they are providing generous discounts and rebates to travelers who choose to stay at their properties.

Here’s a look at the latest offerings:

COLORADO

You can thank the Aspen Chamber of Commerce for this next gas rebate. The group is currently offering a $50 rebate to guests who stay at the Aspen Silverglo. As part of the deal you will receive a two-bedroom condo for $260 per night, and a $50 gas rebate will be deducted from your total bill. The package also includes two free daylong bike rentals and two free bus passes for a tour of Maroon Bells, the 14,000-foot peaks surrounding Aspen (a $12 value). The catch: a 3-night minimum stay is required. The offer if good through October 15, 2008.

In Vail, the Vail Cascade Resort & Spa is offering a $25 room credit for every night you book. You can use the credit towards a round of golf; dinner at the hotel restaurant or for various spa treatments, but the lodging is pushing the extra $25 as a way to offset the high price of fuel. The deal ends August 31, 2008.

ILLINOIS

Summertime in Chicago—-it doesn’t get much better than that and right now you can save some dough when you travel to the Windy City. The Hyatt Regency McCormick Place is offering a Gas Saver Package–stay for one night and you’ll get a $25 gas card and free parking. Plus, the hotel offers free shuttle service to the Magnificent Mile so you can shop til you drop. Rooms at the upscale property start at $199 and the offer is good through September 6, 2008.

MICHIGAN

In Detroit, the “Fill Up Fridays” package offered by the Best Western Sterling Inn covers a one-night stay, admission for four to the hotel’s 32,000-square-foot water park, and a $20 gas voucher good at any Speedway gas station. Note: The Sterling Inn is just one of hundreds of Best Western hotels in the U.S. and Canada offering gas specials this summer.
