Last Friday marked the official start of summer. The days are longer and the sun is more intense. Unfortunately, now that the Summer Solstice has passed it means we are losing one to two minutes of daylight per day as we head towards winter. If that sad fact doesn’t act as a motivator for you to get out and enjoy the nice weather perhaps these next deals will.
Lodgings across the country are offering money saving deals to entice you to spend part of your summer vacation with them. If high gas prices have you putting the brakes on your family road trip consider the following hotel packages that are aimed at fueling up summer adventures:
MAINE
Through October 31, 2008 you can take advantage of the three-night “No Fueling” package at any of the three Historic Inns of Rockland. For $149 per room per night you receive accommodations, a free tune-up for your vehicle, an air-filter change, air-pressure check, and tire gauge (a value of more than $55), plus you can add on a fuel-injection cleaning service for just $139 (a 25% discount) to improve fuel efficiency.
MARYLAND
From now through the end of the year families looking to bond in the great outdoors can take advantage of the Chesapeake Bay Resort’s Experience package. The deal includes a s’mores kit, a kite, a pass to Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge, 15% off the resort’s store, and a $25 gas card, redeemable at Wawa, which has 200 stores in the east (and one close to the resort). Rates start at $239 per room per night.
PENNSYLVANIA
Twenty-five hotels and B&Bs throughout the state are participating in a free gas program. Simply book a two-night stay at a participating lodging and you’ll receive a $25 gas card, redeemable at 60 Lancaster County Turkey Hill Minit Markets. But you’ll have to hurry; the offer expires on June 30, 2008.
VIRGINIA
Shenandoah National Park’s “Weekend Getaway” package includes two nights’ accommodations at Skyland Resort or Big Meadows Lodge (priced at $129 per room per night), breakfast daily, and two tickets to Luray Caverns, a series of caves with huge, cathedral-like rooms. You’ll also receive a $30 gas voucher good at any ARAMARK gas station in the park. The offer is good through July 31, 2008.
In Charlottesville, Virginia, the Boar’s Head Inn is offering a Gas and Go deal. When you pay $159 per room per night you will receive a $20 credit on your bill for each night of your stay. The offer runs thorough August 28, 2008.
