Can you really have an Independence Day celebration without a parade? Fourth of July parades are a part of the American tradition and on our country’s 232nd birthday you can view big bands, floats and flag waving veterans from coast to coast.

WASHINGTON, D.C.–America’s Independence Day Parade
Considered the granddaddy of all Independence Day parades, this massive marching spectacle draws tens of thousands to sidewalk perches each year. The annual parade in our nation’s capitol is unparalleled. It is patriotic, festive and filled with marching bands, floats, giant balloons, military and equestrian units, and celebrity guests that proceed down Constitution Avenue past all of the storied national monuments. When the parade is over you can secure a spot for one of the nation’s largest fireworks displays in the evening.
PHILADELPHIA–Southwest Airlines July 4th Parade
You can’t help but feel patriotic when you are visiting Philadelphia and there’s no better place to display your pride than at the city’s annual Fourth of July parade. The red, white and blue procession of bands, floats and balloons heads down tBenjamin Franklin Parkway and ends at the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art, immortalized in the movie “Rocky.” The parade caps off a weeklong citywide “Celebrate Freedom” festival, and features a variety of groups that reflect the cultural diversity of our nation.
RHODE ISLAND–Bristol Fourth of July Parade
The state might be small but Bristol’s annual Fourth of July celebration sure packs a punch. Billed as the longest uninterrupted string of Independence Day parades in the nation (it was established in 1785 and has survived numerous wars and the Great Depression), Bristol’s annual parade has something for everyone from floats and flags to dance troupes and drum-and-bugle corps. The event attracts more than 100,000 spectators each year.
