The mountainous city and well-known skiing destination wants you to experience its summer side. If you are a family of adventure seekers that love to swim, fish, hike, picnic, or bike, Salt Lake City is waiting for you. The “Salt Lake City Getaway” is good through the month of July and includes round-trip airfare and three nights’ accommodations from $295 per person when departing from Long Beach, California (add $170 to-from New York City, $220 to/from D.C., and $280 to/from Boston).
You’ll be staying at the Little America Hotel located about 10 minutes from the airport. The 850-room downtown hotel has two restaurants, a fitness center, and Salt Lake City’s largest indoor/outdoor pool.
While you are in the city you can make summer memories at the nearby 1.3-million-acre Wasatch-Cache National Forest, which is filled with miles and miles of nature trails ideal for hiking or biking. On day two of your stay consider exploring the Utah Museum of National History, which boasts exhibits that span more than 200 million years of history, including dinosaur models and fossils. You will also want to make a stop at one of the city’s most popular attractions–Olympic Cauldron Park built for the 2002 games; it still draws a record number of visitors to the area. It is located on the campus of University of Utah and includes the well-photographed Hoberman Arch, where the winning athletes received their medals. Finally, no trip to Salt Lake City would be complete without a tour of Temple Square, the world headquarters to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. If you time your visit just right you may be able to catch a performance by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.
If you go keep in mind that July is the hottest month in Salt Lake City. Average daytime temperatures are in the low 90s and there are frequent thunderstorms in the afternoon.
