Quick… think back to the strangest flight you have ever been on. Now, compare it to the one passengers onboard a recent American Airlines flight experienced and see how it stacks up:
As if the emergency landing in Oklahoma City wasn’t bad enough consider what travelers onboard American Airlines Flight 725 were thinking when they saw a naked man strolling through the cabin and later watched as he tried to open an emergency exit door while the plane was 30,000 feet in the air.
According to authorities, the flight, which left from Boston en route to Los Angeles last Friday was diverted to Oklahoma City after a male passenger entered an airplane lavatory, stripped down, walked around the cabin naked, put his clothes back on, and then tried to open an emergency exit door before being subdued by members of a pro soccer team.
The Boeing 757 carrying 151 passengers and seven crew members reportedly made a safe landing in Oklahoma City and was back in the air an hour later on the way to Los Angeles, but not before the unruly passenger was removed from the plane and taken into FBI custody. Officials say the man is currently undergoing a psychiatric evaluation.
Today, members of Major League Soccer’s New England Revolution are being hailed as heroes for restraining the man while flight attendants placed tie wraps on his hands and feet. Airline officials say members of the pro soccer team were “a big help” in subduing the man as he tried to open the emergency exit door.
The airline refused to comment on what if any measures were taken when passengers and flight attendants noticed the man moving about the cabin completely naked, expect to say that he eventually returned to the lavatory and put his clothes back on.
Can you imagine waiting in line for the restroom and being confronted by a naked man? That in and of itself is worth writing home about without having to endure seeing the same guy try to open an emergency exit mid-flight.
How would you have reacted?
