Shia LaBeouf’s Hand Damaged in Wreck

You probably heard that actor Shia LaBeouf was involved in a car wreck late last Sunday. His truck, in which his Transformers sequel Revenge of the Fallen co-star Isabel Lucas was a passenger, flipped over as in a West Hollywood intersection as he tried to make a left turn. At first, officials believed that LaBeouf had been drinking and caused the wreck. However, it has been determined that the other driver was negligent when he or she ran a red light.

While that may get LaBeouf off the hook legally, it seems as if things are not well at all. While passenger Lucas was okay after the wreck, LaBeouf’s attorney, Michael Norris, said that LaBeouf had to undergo four hours of surgery on his left hand, which was crushed during the accident. While the doctors are hoping for a full recovery, the injury seems to be serious. Norris said, “He will need regular medical supervision until his doctors clear him to return to work.” Norris said that the doctors remain hopeful for a full recovery, but there is risk of infection.

Right now, LaBeouf is wearing a brace with a dressing that covers his left arm, leaving only his pinkie ring uncovered. How might this affect his filming the movie? Director Michael Bay may add the injury into the script of the film. He told Access Hollywood that LaBeouf’s two fingers were badly hurt, but they were “figuring out a way to shoot around it.”

LaBeouf is doing well at the box office, having starred in last summers Transformers and this year’s blockbuster Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. However, he has also had several run-ins with the law in the last year. He was arrested at a Walgreens last November for refusing to leave (the charges were dropped). He was also arrested last March after failing to show up in court for a ticket for an unlawful smoking charge. LaBeouf’s lawyer showed up the next day to plead not guilty and the charges were dismissed after a $500 fine.

It all seems like small stuff, but could this be leading towards bigger trouble for the rising star?
