It seems unusual that luxury hotels would be offering bargains this time of year (or at all) given that the folks who frequent ultra-luxe properties probably aren’t pinching pennies the same way most families are. Still, owners of swanky lodgings say to retain business during tough economic times they are not above lowering prices and adding incentives to attract more customers. That’s good news to any traveler looking to score a bargain at a luxurious hotel. If you have always wanted to live like the rich and famous, but couldn’t afford to do so, now’s your chance to go big.
WASHINGTON, D.C.
Right now the swanky Inn at Perry Cabin in St. Michaels, Maryland (its spa and its restaurant are regularly awarded and recognized by the Distinguished Restaurants of North America) is offering a special two-night stay with the second night 50 percent off. The Inn’s most luxurious room, the Water View Master Suite, usually costs between $700 and $770 a night but, if you book your stay before November 8, 2008 you will only have to pay $675 for the first night and $337 for the second. In addition to the suite, you will receive two tickets to the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum and a bottle of house wine upon arrival. You will also have access to on-site golfing, cycling, fishing, hunting, and sailing during your stay.
WYOMING
The Four Seasons Jackson Hole, located in Teton Village, Wyoming is currently offering reduced rates on summer stays with rates ranging from to $595- $695 a night that include golf, fishing and hiking, as well as a picnic surrounded by mountain views in either Yellowstone National Park or Grand Teton National Park.
COLORADO
From now until the end of September the Park Hyatt in Beaver Creek, Colorado is offering a special Hike Week package. As part of the deal you will receive 4-nights’ accommodations and the opportunity to conquer one of Colorado’s famous “fourteener” mountains (14,000 feet and higher). The Park Hyatt, which calls itself the “most luxurious base camp in the world,” will provide hiking instruction (the first few days involve altitude acclimation and practice hikes before summiting one of the larger mountains), plus you will receive two spa treatments, an arrival and farewell dinner, and daily breakfast and lunch. Rates start at $1,929 for single occupancy and $1,574 per person based on double occupancy.
