New Homeschool Curriculum for Writing: Time4Writing

It is no secret that Time4Learning has been one of my favorite online curriculums for elementary school students. I liked it because it is interactive and teaches language arts, math, science, and social studies to pre-kindergarten through middle school children. The program fully prepared my kids to be able to hit the ground running when they transitioned into taking local co-op type classes. It also made the learning process fun.

Time4Learning now had a new sister online curriculum called Time4Writing which focuses of teaching students writing skills. Time4writing was created in response to parental requests for writing tutorials. There are elementary through high school courses with an online instructor that teach students to write sentences, paragraphs, essays, advanced essays, and even research papers. Your students can also prepare for standardized test using this service.

While this program is great for homeschoolers, it is also imperative for public school students as less and less time is spent on writing and feedback. I imagine it could be helpful for anyone that wants to improve their writing skills.

Here is a bit of the press release:

Teaching writing can be a time consuming process as each writing assignment needs to be reviewed, the feedback is frequently subjective, and there is no answer key. Overworked teachers are giving less writing practice even though the standardized exams are increasingly including essay tests.
Many parents appreciate having outside help to teach writing as giving feedback on writing to one’s own children can be time consuming and awkward. Students like learning on the computer and the individualized attention from writing teachers on their writing assignments.
One mother said: “My son really enjoyed the Time4Writing class which is exciting for me. Writing hasn’t been one his favorite things to do, but I think this format worked very well for him. He liked the personal attention from his own online teacher.”

The online classes start on Mondays for most classes. Some of the high school classes are monthly.
