With a little creativity you can turn ordinary ingredients into delectably devilish party treats for your Halloween get together. As illustrated in previous blogs ketchup and food coloring can go a long way in transforming traditional eats into ghoulish edible masterpieces.
The same policy holds true for the following Halloween-themed recipes. Something as simple as chocolate pudding can become the base for a graveyard. Just place the pudding in a clear plastic cup and top with spoonfuls of Cool Whip to create spooky ghosts and presto, instant creepy treat.
Here are a few more recipes to get you into the Halloween spirit:
DIRT SANDWICHES
Ingredients:
16 chocolate covered graham cracker cookies
1 pint coffee ice cream, softened in microwave for 15 to 20 seconds on high
Crushed Oreo cookies
Directions:
Set 8 cookies on a plate.
Top with 8 small scoops coffee ice cream and set another cookie on top of each scoop. Lightly press down to make sandwiches.
Roll the sandwiches’ exposed ice cream in the crushed Oreos.
Serve immediately or store in freezer until party time.
CHOCOLATE COVERED MARSHMALLOW CREATURES
Ingredients:
Marshmallows
White chocolate
4-inch wooden lollipop sticks
Black decorating gel
Directions:
Insert sticks into each marshmallow, and place in the freezer for about 15 minutes.
While the marshmallows are chilling, heat one cup of white chocolate in a double boiler, stirring constantly until the chocolate is completely melted.
Remove the marshmallows from the freezer and dip them lightly in the melted chocolate. To make Marshmallow Mummies, swirl the frozen marshmallow in the chocolate to make it resemble layers of white sheet wrapped around it. You can make Marshmallow Ghosts by dipping the marshmallows and adding a little twisted peak on top.
Once you’ve dipped all the marshmallows stick them in a block of Styrofoam and place them in the refrigerator to set. Once the chocolate has hardened add faces using a small tube of black decorating gel, with a fine tip.
Return to refrigerator for a few minutes, then serve.
