This past Saturday, the New Orleans rapper Lil Wayne was named Lyricist of the Year, MVP of the Year, and Alltel Wireless People’s Champ at the BET Hip-Hop Awards.
It’s been a bad week for…Robin Williams
Funnyman Robin Williams is suing Frank and Beans Productions for breach of contract to the tune of $6 million dollars. It seems that Robin signed up to appear in a comedy titled A Couple of Dicks under the condition that he receive $6 million in “fixed compensation,” that is, whether the film was ever made or not. In March, the film was shelved and now Williams is fighting for his money.

It’s been a good week for…Zac Efron
The High School Musical star celebrated his 21st birthday Saturday. While other stars often have big blow out birthday parties, Zac celebrated quietly as Pace Restaurant in Los Angeles with his parents, brother, girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens, and other High School Musical co-stars Monique Coleman, Ashley Tisdale (and her boyfriend Jared Murillo), and friends Michelle Trachtenberg, Amanda Bynes, Brittany Show, and Aly and AJ Michalka.
It’s been a bad week for…Dionne Warwick and Soul Music
Dionne Warwick’s sister, Dee Dee died this week in a New Jersey nursing home at the age of 63. Dee Dee had several hits during the ‘60s and ‘70s including “Foolish Fool” and “I’m Gonna Make You Love Me.” She was a two time Grammy winner who sang backup for soul greats Aretha Franklin and Wilson Pickett. Dee Dee also sang background vocals for Dionne’s show “My Music & Me” this year.
It’s been a good week for…Travis Barker
This week, Travis Barker was released from the Los Angeles burn center where he had been since September 29. Barker was being treated for second and third degree burns he received on September 19 after being involved in a South Carolina plane crash that killed four other passengers. The only other survivor, DJ AM, went back to work Wednesday, appearing on tour with Jay Z in Hollywood.
It’s been a bad week for…Baseball Fans
TBS experienced technical difficulty during Game 6 of the American League championship this week. Fans missed the first 20 minutes of the game (and the first home run) before the problems were corrected and the broadcast began. TBS was able to rerun the home run later in the game.
