As the country still mourns for Jennifer Hudson’s loss, there are new findings in the case. Wednesday, police found a handgun they think was involved in the slayings. The handgun, which was in a box, was found in an alley about a block away from where the police found the white SUV that contained the body of Hudson’s nephew, Julian. There is speculation today that Julian was shot in the SUV after being taken from the house where his grandmother and uncle were killed. The .45 caliber handgun a was sent to the Illinois State Police to see if it was the murder weapon through comparison with shell casings found in the home.
The estranged husband of Hudson’s sister, Julia, William Balfour, is in custody for questioning about the murders. There are reports circulating that he has refused to take a polygraph test. Balfour’s mother has been talking about the case, saying her son isn’t guilty, but it seems that her explanations are hardly helping his case.
US Weekly (http://www.usmagazine.com/news/friend-jennifer-hudsons-family-didnt-take-william-balfours-threats-seriously) published a report this week that suggests that Balfour had threatened the family, but they didn’t take his threats seriously. The magazine talked to a friend of the family who said he tried to warn them about Balfour, known as Flex. The friend said that Balfour had fought with Hudson’s brother, Jason and that Jason beat him up. After that, Balfour began making threats to the family, saying he would kill Julia and “mess up everyone in the house.”
When asked what the source of tension was with Balfour and the Hudson family, the friend said that Julia claimed he sold a car that belonged to the family without consent. Another neighbor, Angela Russell, said that Julia and Balfour fought all the time, but no one ever thought it would end up like this.
