Practical Gifts for a Frugal Family Part 2

socks Are you looking for some practical gift ideas for someone who is frugal? We are continuing with our brainstorming. If you missed the first post in this topic, click here to catch up: Practical Gifts for a Frugal Family.

And, now on to some more ideas…

Freezer bags or containers

Chances are that a frugal family is buying in bulk and freezing ingredients and meals. And chances are also good that they may be using the same freezer bags over and over again. Give them the gift of freezer bags and containers to help them keep on track. Since this doesn’t seem like a very fun gift alone, why not package it together with the gift below.

Freezer or ready made meals

Busy families tend to eat out a lot. And frugal families try to cook as much as they can from scratch to save money. Help the frugal family stay on track with home made freezer meals and ready-made mixes that will give them the gift of dinner that they don’t have to prepare themselves.

Warm socks

Everyone tend to wear out their socks until they are practically falling apart, whether they are frugal or not. This means that there is a lack of second-hand socks (and for the squeamish like me I wouldn’t use second-hand socks anyway). While frugal families may shop at yard sales and thrift stores for clothes, chances are that their sock collection is in need of shoring up. You don’t know how guilty (and excited) I felt dropping a package of ultra-soft socks into my shopping cart the other day. Give a combination of practical and luxurious socks for the biggest impact.

Membership to a local attraction

Entertainment is often an item with a small budget in a frugal household. We tend to take advantage of what is out there for free, such as the library for books, movies and music. A membership to a local attraction, such as a museum or zoo will be welcome. It will provide plenty of entertainment value and a chance to get out for “free.” We overuse (if that is possible) our membership, taking advantage of all of the programs that it has to offer. And some attraction memberships allow you free entrance at others across the country!
