Paul Newman’s will has been made public. So, who did the great actor who was so philanthropic decide to give his money and stuff to? As might be expected, most of his personal possessions went to his wife, Joanne Woodward including his real estate, musical instruments, and his collection of artwork. Woodward will also be in control of Newman’s production companies and real estate holdings, which includes the couple’s home in Westport, CT.
However, he left many awards, including three Oscars (one for Best Actor for 1987’s The Color of Money and two honorary), an Emmy, three Golden Globes, and a Screen Actors Guild award to his Newman’s Own Foundation. He also directed all his interest in Newman’s Own and Salad King companies to go to the Newman’s Own Foundation, so the profits from that could be given to charity.
His beloved race cars as well as his airplane will be auctioned off, with the monies going back to his estate. How cool would it be to own one of Paul Newman’s race cars?
A while back, I blogged about “Sopranos” actor Lillo Brancato. Brancato was charged with the murder of policeman Daniel Enchautegui. Although off duty, Enchautegui caught Brancato and Steven Armento breaking into an apartment in 2005 while looking for drugs. When he tried to stop them, Armento shot him to death. Armento was convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison without parole.
Brancato’s trial started today. Facing second degree murder charges, Brancato is hoping his lawyers can prove that he never intended to burglarize the apartment and had no gun, so he is not responsible for Enchautegui’s death.
Prosecutors plan to show that Brancato acted with Armento in the burglary and killing and deserves to go to prison. While Brancato’s parents claim his innocence, Enchautegui’s sister feels that Brancato is just as guilty of her brother’s death as Armento and deserves prison time.
