News travels fast even when you’re not in the pool. It’s a lesson Olympic hero Michael Phelps is learning the hard way.
The swimming sensation made waves a few days prior to Thanksgiving when word got out that he was taking his new girlfriend home to Baltimore to meet his family. Boy wonder brings sizzling hot gal pal to share turkey with his mom. Seems harmless enough, right?
Not so much.
First of all, Phelps’ love interest isn’t exactly “marriage material” according to some insiders. Caroline ”Caz” Pal is a voluptuous Las Vegas cocktail waitress, who Phelps met in Sin City while training for the 2009 World Series of Poker.
Ever since word leaked that golden boy was taking Pal home to meet his mama, suggestive photos of the heavily tattooed 26-year-old posing topless have been causing a stir online.
Fast forward to today. Since the pre-Thanksgiving reports started circulating a slew of Phelps’ buddies have suddenly made themselves available to media types to set the record straight on their boy.
According to Phelps’ BFFs, the swimming speed demon isn’t exactly in an exclusive relationship with Pal.
”Michael is having a great time. He’s been dating a number of girls and is just enjoying his celebrity,” a longtime Baltimore friend of Phelps and his family told a Chicago newspaper.
And perhaps even more revealing is this statement from the same Baltimore buddy: ”Michael is very aware how important his ‘All-American Boy’ image is to sponsors like AT&T, Kellogg’s and Subway. I don’t think you’ll see him getting too serious with someone like Pal.”
Ah… the truth is revealed.
Of course, I’m not exactly sure how much better it is to be dating “a number of girls” as opposed to being exclusive with one that allegedly has a seedy past.
Phelps is hooking up with a cocktail waitress, who likes to pose topless in photographs. Does knowing that make you not want to buy the Corn Flakes he’s hawking?
