Sarah Palin’s unwed pregnant daughter was supposed to give birth today. No word on whether the Alaskan governor’s first grandson actually made his debut, but we do know who will likely not be visiting the hospital after Bristol Palin gives birth—-the mother of the boy who impregnated her.
According to news reports, Sherry Johnston, the mother of Levi Johnston — the 18-year-old who is the father of Bristol soon-to-be-born son -– was charged with six felony counts of misconduct involving a controlled substance earlier this week.
Basically, cops say Bristol’s baby daddy’s mama was caught with drugs and is also being accused of delivering them.
Not exactly behavior becoming a grandmother-to-be… especially not one that is quasi-related to the former Republican vice-presidential candidate.
Levi’s 42-year-old mom was reportedly arrested Thursday at her home as part of an undercover drug investigation by Alaska State troopers. A spokeswoman for the troopers said in a statement late Friday afternoon that the charges “are in relation to the drug Oxycontin.”
Police reportedly searched Johnston’s home and uncovered a slew of drug paraphernalia just days before her grandson was due. Mama Johnston was booked by police and taken to jail. However, reports say she was released on a $5,000 unsecured bond a few hours later.
Johnston’s arraignment is scheduled for January 6th.
Meanwhile, a rep for Governor Sarah Palin told reporters: “This is not a state government matter. Therefore the governor’s communications staff will not be providing comment or scheduling interview opportunities.”
Johnston’s not talking either. Regardless, I think it’s safe to assume that Levi and Bristol’s new baby will be spending more time over at the Palin’s until Johnston’s mom gets her legal affairs ironed out.
Not exactly the merriest of Christmases for Sherry Johnston. And what of young Levi? He’s got a purported drug-dealing mom to contend with just as he is entering the wonderful world of parenthood. Talk about pressure.
