“The Barbie Diaries” is released tommorrow (May 9th) on DVD
If you have a few Barbie fanatics at home then you’ll probably want to pick this one up.
The straight to DVD release from Lionsgate and Mattel Entertainment is a new toon-shaded CGI-animated cartoon. What that means is that rather than your traditional drawn cartoon like you’re used to, this one has a computer animated feel to it. It is definitely a different look than you’ll find on your traditional Saturday morning cartoons. The DVD also has a fun pop music soundtrack.
In the movie Barbie starts a new school year with lots of hopes and dreams for her and her friends. When things don’t seem to be going her way, she finds a diary and a charm bracelet that turn her life around. Everything that Barbie writes in her diary starts to come true. Barbie is able to gain the self confidence she needs to succeed by believing that she will always succeed with the diary.
This movie can be a good way to teach your children to believe in themselves, and that with some self confidence they can go anywhere they want.
The DVD has several special features including:
-Bloopers/ Outtakes
-Cootie Catcher Fortune Teller Game
-Music Video featuring Skye Sweetnam
…and many more
The DVD itself retails at around $19.99. If you’re looking for a fun gift item you can purchase the DVD with a collectable Barbie Diary for $24.95. You could also create your own gift set by purchasing the DVD with a doll or other existing Barbie item (there are tons out there).
The movie runs 71 minutes long and is recommended for Barbie lovers between the ages of 5-12. The DVD can be found at most places DVD’s are sold, as well as online at Amazon.com
