At least in my book. Which is why most of my playgroup potluck contributions feature the tantalizing treat. Even if you are not a huge chocolate fan, you will have a hard time saying no to the following fudgy offerings:
CHOCOLATE BREAD PUDDING
Ingredients:
3/4 loaf white bread
2 cups milk
1/2 cup chocolate syrup or melted sweet chocolate
1 tablespoon melted butter
5 eggs
Dash of vanilla extract
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Cut and cube bread and place in a large bowl.
Mix together eggs, sugar, chocolate and butter and add to the bowl of cubed bread, allow to absorb, about 15 minutes.
Spray 10 by 10-inch pan.
Bake pudding for an hour.
Allow to cool before serving.
CHOCOLATE RICE KRISPIE SANDWICHES
Ingredients:
1 cup butterscotch chips
1/2 cup peanut butter
4 cups Rice Krispies cereal
1 cup chocolate chips
1/2 cup powdered sugar
2 tablespoons butter
1 tablespoon water
Directions:
In a large saucepan, combine butterscotch chips and peanut butter. Heat on low heat until chips are melted.
Add Rice Krispies and stir until mixed.
Place half of the mixture in a greased 9×9-inch glass pan.
Chill in refrigerator.
Melt chocolate chips, powdered sugar, butter and water in a small bowl in microwave for about a minute, stir until smooth. Spread this mixture over refrigerated cereal mixture. Spread remaining cereal mixture on top.
Chill in refrigerator 45 minutes for an hour.
Cut into squares and serve.
WHITE HOT CHOCOLATE
Ingredients:
12 oz. high-quality white chocolate, coarsely chopped
6 cups whole milk
2 cups heavy cream
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
Whipped cream, for garnish
2 oz. milk or dark chocolate, for garnish
Directions:
Using a vegetable peeler, shave milk chocolate into curls; set aside.
Place white chocolate in a medium heat-proof bowl; set aside.
Place milk and cream in a medium saucepan set over medium heat until bubbles begin to form around edges of pan, about 4 minutes. Immediately pour mixture over white chocolate.
When chocolate begins to melt, stir to combine, and add back to sauce pan. Whisk in vanilla. Continue whisking until smooth and hot.
Serve immediately, garnished with whipped cream, and chocolate curls.
