Overnight and in the early morning, we got hit with a few fluffy gentle inches of snow. I decided to get the shovel and brush out and take care of the long driveway, the car and the steps, cleaning them up. Our house is situated downhill, and it is a minivan, which means that even with a little snow, it isn’t getting up the hill of the driveway.
So, even though I am fighting a fever, a sore throat, aches and chills, I thought it was in our best interest to get it cleared. I did a combination technique of traditional shoveling combined with using the shovel as a makeshift plow. The snow had mostly stopped falling, and at the end of the hour, although I was exhausted and seeing spots, I had a good sense of accomplishment from my efforts.
Fast forward to this afternoon when I get an e-mail from the coordinator of my son’s chess club saying that the meeting is still on, since the massive snow storm wasn’t supposed to hit until after 6 p.m. tonight. Massive snow storm? Huh? The weather this morning said little to no accumulation (we got about two-inches)!
I went to recheck the weather online only to see that it has been updated. A snow storm is moving in and supposed to hit us late afternoon into early evening (the watch is in effect from 4 pm until midnight.) Five inches of snow is expected (okay, not so massive). Seeing the updated report, I audibly deflated.
Now, we do have a snow thrower that we purchased at a yard sale two years ago and have yet to use. Because of its size, my husband tells me that we can’t use it for under six or seven inches. Now I am kicking myself. Five inches plus this morning’s two inches might just have made it.
How is your weather?
