Home Improvement: Is it Time for a Break?

Be careful not to work your volunteer helpers too hard when doing home improvement projects. When it’s time to take a little break, be sure to praise everyone for their hard work. Offer refreshments, turn on some music, and blow off a little steam with these simple games. Besides allowing you to lighten things up for a few minutes during projects, playing these games may also help inspire new ideas.

Give everyone involved in the project a piece of paper and a pencil. Have them write the words Home Improvement across the top of the page. Set a time limit and begin making as many words (related to home improvement of course) from the letters that make up these two words.

You can also take turns drawing pictures of home improvement items and guessing what each person’s drawing is supposed to be. It can be really challenging if some of the participants don’t draw especially well. It’s also funny.

These games may seem a bit silly, but they are a great way to have a few laughs so everyone feels refreshed and ready to return to the task at hand. Home improvement projects can be very enjoyable, but they are also hard work. Taking breaks to have a little fun is a good idea and it helps prevent bad moods and mistakes caused by fatigue. You’ll definitely notice a difference in the way people respond.

Your friends or family members are also more likely to help you with future projects if they know you appreciate their efforts and they know that you will try to make the experience as agreeable as possible. You can save a lot of money and have a lot more fun if you can persuade family and friends to help out instead of hiring someone to do the work, so do what you can to keep your helpers happy.
