A week after he made headlines for allegedly injuring his famous girlfriend Rihanna following a pre-Grammy Awards party, Chris Brown is showing signs of remorse.
The 19-year-old R&B singer just released a public statement addressing his arrest for domestic violence. In it he tells fans that he is “sorry and saddened” by what happened and is seeking counseling from mother, his pastor and other loved ones.
“Words cannot begin to express how sorry and saddened I am over what transpired,” Brown said in his statement, adding, “I am committed, with God’s help, to emerging a better person.”
Brown also pointed out that much of what has been reported about the incident is not true. The singer adamantly denied making comments about his arrest on Facebook and called posts made under his name, “frauds.” In addition, despite informing the world that was has been reported in the media about him is “wrong,” Brown says he is unable to set the record straight until the case is resolved.
Brown is currently out of jail on $50,000 bail. He has still not been charged by the district attorney’s office, which is still investigating the case.
Meanwhile, this weekend, Rihanna’s dad, Ronald Fenty spoke to the media regarding his daughter’s condition.
According to the 55-year-old salesman, his daughter is holding up remarkably well under the circumstances.
“There is some bruising,” Fentry told PEOPLE magazine. “She will be all right. I think so.”
Fentry revealed that his daughter is spending time with a group of supportive friends at an undisclosed location and doesn’t plan to make a public statement about the incident anytime soon.
He adds, “At some point, she will speak out. I hope she will stand up for women all over the world.”
Fenty also told PEOPLE that he hasn’t, and won’t, tell his daughter what to do in regards to how handle her relationship with Brown, but added, “If it were me, I’d move on.”
Ditto.
