Somebody in one of my online pet communities alerted me to GetToTheVet.com.
The basic idea is this: Bayer Animal Health (makers of Advantage flea and tick prevention) is going to give away a quarter of a million dollars in veterinary vouchers to help folks get their pets in for vet visits during these tough economic times. As the site says:
“…many pet owners are facing difficult choices about how to pay for and prioritize their pets’ care and wellness. And unfortunately, veterinary visits and preventive veterinary care are often cut due to financial struggles and concerns.”
Between February 16 and February 28, they’re giving away thousands of $20 vet vouchers. All you have to do is fill out a quick form (name, address, pet information) and submit. Every hour on the hour between 9AM and 9PM Eastern, they give away more than eighty vouchers. If you don’t get one, try again the next hour. It’s that easy!
I’ve tried twice, out of curiosity. My first entry (10:54AM) was a no-go. They had already run out of vouchers for that hour. My second try (11:10AM) was also a failure. So if you want to try, get it as close to the top of the hour as possible!
If you do get a voucher, download it immediately. Then take your pet in to the vet for a preventive care visit — annual exam, vaccinations, dental care, and the like. Make the appointment for before the end of May — all vouchers must be postmarked by May 31st of this year. Send the voucher and a copy of the receipt for your visit to the address provided and Bayer will send you a check for twenty dollars.
GetToTheVet.com also has tips for saving money on pet care and a link to PetParents.com — Bayer’s animal health site. I think it’s pretty great of Bayer to try to help folks. Twenty bucks might not cover a full visit, but it sure helps.
